PEACE CONSULTATION MEETING

A consultation engagement meeting was conducted in Galkayo by the Puntland Youth and Social Development Association (PSA) in collaboration with consortium partners CARE and CPD, and facilitated by SSF.

The event was organized in conjunction with the Puntland Ministry of Interior (MOIFAD) and the Mudug Regional Administration. Participants included key stakeholders from existing peace structures, such as traditional leaders, women, and youth committees. The primary objective of the meeting was to evaluate ongoing peacebuilding initiatives, identify obstacles, and devise joint strategies to enhance stability within Puntland and Galmudug.

During the meeting, participants emphasized their pivotal roles in conflict resolution, their contributions to grassroots peacebuilding, and the implementation of programs aimed at fostering dialogue and social harmony. Key challenges, such as constrained resources and the necessity for capacity-building, were deliberated in detail.

The session culminated in actionable recommendations, including the parties agreed on a general framework or set of principles to guide negotiations and actions, agree to continue discussions and hold additional meetings to address unresolved issues, action plans with timelines and responsibilities were agreed on to implement the agreements reached during the meeting. The meeting underscored the shared dedication to advancing sustainable peace in the region
